Jesus Is My Everything Bible Study Week Five

Jesus is My Everything – Week 5.

This brings me to my next point… We don’t have to understand it, we just have to be obedient to God’s voice and His word.

{Side note: In the Bible there are two words translated from the Greek which both are found as the word “word”. There is the Logos which is the written

word of God (the Bible) and the Rhema which is the spoken word of God (that still small voice). Both refer to communication from our Lord Jesus. And YES, He still speaks to us. It is up to us to quiet ourselves enough to listen and hear his voice.}

     A. Matthew 7:24-25 says 24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

     B. John 14:15 Jesus speaking here says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.

               a. In this book Jesus is talking about who He is and that He and the Father are one. In the midst of this He says, If ye love me, keep my commandments.

     C. In Vs. 16 & 17 he goes on to say, “16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

               a. So this tells me that keeping his commandments and the comforter coming to abide with us are hinged together. Simple. We don’t have to understand it, we just need to obey.

     D. The Bible also says in 1 Sam 15:22: And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

               a. Here we see Samuel explaining that to obey the voice of the LORD is better than any sacrifice we can give him. Nothing material can replace giving ourselves as a living sacrifice unto the Lord.
